Gift of Sight

In September, 2010, a team of 14 Humanity First USA volunteers consisting of ophthalmologists, residents, medical students and volunteers traveled to San Juan Sacatepequez, Guatemala. During their week-long stay, the team, collaborating with Humanity First Guatemala, performed 25 cataract surgeries and saw nearly 50 patients at the Centro de Salud clinic. Local ophthalmology residents were taught various surgical techniques.

The Gift of Sight team is planning to revisit Guatemala in the fall of 2011.
